Description

Once upon a time, a beautiful little princess named Aurora was born to the king and queen of a faraway land. Many guests were invited to celebrate the baby's birth; however, the evil Carabosse was left off the guest list. Nevertheless, just as all the fairies bestowed the little princess with many blessings and gifts, Carabosse and her retinue of Ravens appear at the festivities! She proclaims that once Aurora turns 16 years of age, she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die. Fortunately, the beautiful and wise Lilac Fairy is able to mitigate the curse and turn the death sentence into a 100-year sleep for both Princess Aurora and her entire Royal Court. 

We invite our friends and family of the Greater Long Beach community to relive this centuries-old fairy tale performed by the talented dancers of the Southern California Dance Theatre.

The Southern California Dance Theatre is committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for everyone attending our productions. The house staff at the auditorium has the right to request patrons to leave the auditorium who do not adhere to the guest policies.

Guest policies include patrons who videotape or photograph and patrons with very young children who are unable to remain quiet during the presentation. We discourage patrons under the age of three years old and request for all patrons to hold a valid ticketed seat. Futhermore, please note that for the safety of our patrons, wheelchairs and strollers need to remain outside of the auditorium. Designated wheelchair seating is available for our patrons who cannot transfer into an auditorium seat.

The Southern California Dance Theatre is a not for profit dance company founded in 1994 which seeks to involve the diverse community of the greater Long Beach area, especially youth, and exploring the many facets of dance productions and theater arts.

With its main focus on dance performances, arts education, the Southern California Dance Theatre seeks to foster team spirit and provide individual roles that utilizes each person's strengths and talents.  Furthermore, the company provides a springboard for professional performers to expand their craft by developing leadership opportunities through choreography, coaching, and back stage skills.

By developing both life and art skill opportunities, the Southern California Dance Theatre seeks to nurture long lasting relationships among its members within the company and contribute in the creation of innovative new works and in preserving the rich culture of the great classical ballet productions.
